Commenting on the launch of the new conference Pharmacy in Practice Director and pharmacist Johnathan Laird said:

“We are delighted to announce our international speaker, Professor Zubin Austin who will deliver the inaugural Pharmacy in Practice conference in Edinburgh in May 2024. I first spoke to Zubin in early 2020 and to be honest I found him to be a captivating, eloquent and frankly inspirational pharmacist.

“The lie of the land in pharmacy is changing. And the rate of that change is accelerating. Cautious, procrastinating perfectionist, low tolerance for ambiguity. Does this ring any bells?

“Zubin has provided significant thought leadership in this area and has contributed many suggestions on how we cope with potentially saying goodbye to the type of pharmacist we used to know.

“At Pharmacy in Practice, we are delighted that he has agreed to make the trip from Toronto to address delegates at the inaugural Pharmacy in Practice conference in Edinburgh in May 2024. Zubin will deliver the inaugural Pharmacy in Practice Annual Lecture.

“The pharmacy profession in Scotland continues to strive, develop and achieve excellence for the population of Scotland. Pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and their teams interact with thousands of people on a daily basis across the country and deliver genuine care.

“The Right Medicine, Prescription for Excellence and more recently Achieving Excellence in Pharmaceutical Care have been progressive blueprints from Government that have presented myriad opportunities for our profession throughout Scotland.

“At Pharmacy in Practice we believe that it is time for all sectors of the profession to come together and celebrate the excellent pharmaceutical care delivered across Scotland on a daily basis.

“Every pharmacist, pharmacy technician and pharmacy team member must play their part to care for our population. This gathering will welcome all corners of our profession and recognise everyone from advanced practitioners to everyday pharmacy heroes that do us proud every day. We look forward to seeing friends and colleagues at both the research poster event and the conference.”
