Why do research and evaluation in pharmacy?

  • by

THAT is the question we’ll be asking alongside Pharmacy Research UK and WePharmacists on May 15, and we want pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmaceutical scientists, patients and policy makers to join the conversation.

Pharmacy is evidenced based, but as a profession we don’t always celebrate the contribution we make in generating practice changing research and evaluation. Pharmacy professionals from all sectors and across all career stages engaging in, support and lead the generation of evidence via multiple approaches including audit, service evaluation, quality improvement and research.

As part of #whywedoresearch (an international campaign to open dialogue around the benefits of research and evaluation) a pharmacy focused tweetchat will explore why pharmacy professionals engage in research & evaluation and what impact that work has.

The chat will provide a platform to share evidence from pharmacy that has improved patient care and developed the profession and we’ll also examine what resources and support pharmacy professionals have found most useful in developing research, evidence and evaluation.

Lasting an hour we will ask participants:

  • Why do you engage in research & evaluation in pharmacy?
  • What examples are there of pharmacy research improving care and practice?
  • How do you get commissioners and policy makers to engage in your evidence?
  • What support is there to develop your research and evaluation skills in pharmacy?

Join us 12-1pm on May 15 on twitter for the ‘Research and evidence in pharmacy: engaging to improve patient care’ tweet chat as part of #whywedoresearch 2017. For more details check out the website.

The #whywedoresearch twitterfest is running from May 15-26 with over 25 different research and evidence related tweet chats.
